Overview of the workshop

Attending the workshop were leaders of the General Departments, Departments, Institutes under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and senior experts in the field of agriculture and rural development.

On the side of Yen Bai province, there was Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; members in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing People's Council, Provincial People's Committee; leaders of departments, unions, districts, towns, enterprises in the province.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Do Duc Duy - Chairman of the provincial People's Committee affirmed: Workshop on "Agricultural restructuring associated with construction of new rural Yen Bai in period 2018-2020, orientation to 2025" is one of the key tasks of the province in 2018, which is very important, practical, meaningful in politic, economy and society; It helps to look back on the reality of agricultural and rural development, to better understand the comparative advantages of localities as well as the difficulties and challenges that need to be overcome. From that to orientate specific programs and action plans to promote the development of agriculture, farmers and rural areas in Yen Bai province towards industrialization and modernization in the spirit of Resolution No.26-NQ/TW of the 10th Party Central Committee and the resolution of the 12th Party Congress on agriculture, farmers and rural areas.

After more than 30 years of renovation, especially after 10 years of implementation of Resolution No.26-NQ/TW of the 10th Central Committee on agriculture, farmers and rural areas, Yen Bai province has made comprehensive, synchronous and profound moves and made remarkable progress in agriculture, farmers and rural areas. However, agriculture and rural areas of Yen Bai province still have many shortcomings, limits to the requirements of the period of industrialization, modernization of rural areas today.

In the framework of the workshop, the chairman of the provincial People's Committee suggested that the delegates, state management agencies, scientists, agricultural specialists, businesses jointly study and comment on some of the key issues, including: Asessing an overview of Yen Bai's agricultural and rural development; clarifying the potentials, advantages, major shortcomings and solutions to further restructuring the agriculture sector in association with the construction of new rural areas in Yen Bai province by 2020 and orientations to 2025. 

The problems are set for Yen Bai to develop an efficient, comprehensive and sustainable agriculture in line with the potentials, advantages, geological and climatic conditions of each regions in the province to adapt to climate change, natural disaster prevention and ecological environment protection; orientations and tasks and solutions for development of specific agricultural and forestry products and specialties of Yen Bai associated with processing and self-contained consumption to practically raise the living standards of farmers, which is considered as a central theme in the restructuring of the province's agriculture sector.

The concretization of the Party's undertakings and policies as well as the State's policies and laws in accelerating the restructuring the agriculture sector in association with the construction of new rural areas. Specifically, what needs to be done and how to get resources, mechanisms, policies and other "necessary and sufficient" conditions to promote the development of agricultural production in association with construction of new rural areas; To mobilize and attract effectively all economic sectors to invest in agriculture and rural areas; The solutions to develop the forms of production organization and cooperation in agricultural production along the value chain to ensure a stable and stable consumption market ... These are the key factors for success in the restructuring of agriculture and forestry sector, contributing to promoting the sustainable development of agriculture, becoming the pillar of the socio-economic development of the province.

On the sidelines of the Yen Bai provincial workshop, there were booths displaying and introducing agricultural, forestry and fishery products of localities and some typical enterprises of Yen Bai province such as rice, tea, maize, dried meat products; Son tra, bee-honey products; cinnamon; silk products, Bat Do bamboo shoots; aquatic products, grapefruit and other key products of the local, accompanied by information about the products.
