Mr. Lo Van Manh - Secretary of the Commune Party Committee Phong Du Thuong said: "Currently, the commune's terraced fields are mainly concentrated in Khe Tau village with nearly 30 hectares. This is a village with 100% of the Mong people”.
Terraced field in Phong Du Thuong - a new destination for tourists.
The terraced field is made by 79 households in the village. Some terraced fields here have been cultivated by local people. New terraced field is now repaired and brought water from the source".
According to Mr.Manh, terraced field is made from exhausted soil. In 1997, Mong people in Nam Co, Mu Cang Chai went to live there and made this land become terraced field for planting water rice. Due to good climate and care of the State on irrigation, so every year, the area of terraced fields expands more and more. Phong Du Thuong commune encourages people to renovate the land and presrve the landscape and environment suitable for living conditions.
To develop tourism, recently, Van Yen district focused on promote toursim; planned and invested building infrastructure for developing in orientation of stability. Van Yen district has made planned community tourism in attachment with craft village in 5 communes consisting: Phong Du Thuong, Na Hau, Tan Hop, Quang Minh and Dong Cuong.
The target of the plan is developing stably tourism focus on eco-toursim and community tourism; exploiting suitably and effectively resources ensuring association with commercial service activities, inter-sectoral and inter-regional linkages, good combination between economic sectors; creating high-quality, diverse and satisfying tourism products and attract more and more tourists, contributing to preserving and promoting national cultural identity, promoting local socio-economic development sustainably.
