According to Department of Labour – Invalids and Society, despite negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, 2,728 out of the total 4,382 poor families in Yen Bai province successfully escaped from poverty in the first seven months of the year, hitting 62.25 percent of the year’s plan.

The system of Social Policy Bank has loaned to 14,913 households with a total loan turnover of over VND672 billion from preferential credit programs. In which, the number of customers eligible for loans under the preferential credit program for poor households, near-poor households and households that have just escaped poverty is 6,373 households with a total loan amount of 383.77 billion VND.
Social Insurance agencies at all levels in the province coordinated with localities and units issued 385.535 health insurance cards for poor people , near-poor people, children, beneficiaries and people in extremely difficult areas, ethnic minorities in disadvantaged areas... with a total funding of 311 billion VND to support health insurance participation.
The whole province has supported electricity bills for 20,137 poor households and social policy households (including 15,372 poor households and 4,945 social policy households) with a total budget of 6.7 billion VND. The province also has implemented social assistance policies for social protection beneficiaries over VND 77 billion.
Besides, departments, branches and units has implemented many activities helping poor households in localities in assigned areas according to Plan No. 19-KH/TU. Total funding for activities to help poor households in the first 7 months of the year is estimated at 896.93 million VND.
Localities and establishments have made a list of households expected to escape poverty to focus on supporting; assign cadres and mass organizations to help poor households; encourage households to share plants, seeds, production experience to help poor households...
The results were attributed to activities of the localities and organisations, such as compiling a list of households which were about to escape from poverty for prompt support, assigning personnel and organisations to assist the poor households, and calling on families to share saplings, breeding stock and experience to help disadvantaged families.
In addition, 6,373 poor and near-poor households and families that recently escaped from poverty have been enabled to borrow loans totaling 383.77 billion VND (16.7 million USD) in the framework of a preferential credit programme.
The province also offered power bill subsidies for 20,137 needy families and policy beneficiaries at a cost of 6.7 billion VND.
