To prevent and control Covid-19 pandemic, for the last two years, Yen Bai province has been applied many initatives and technologies which help to reduce the burden on people and frontline forces and make the prevention and control work more effectively.
Mr. Vu Quoc Hung from Nghia Lo General Hospital made an hand sanitiser dispenser which has helped save time and prevented cross-infection. Users just need to put their hands under the sensor and the unit will dispense the right amount of sanitiser. It takes only 3-5 seconds to complete the disinfection.
The product is easy to use and is made from simple components. It is also suitable for use in crowded places such as markets, schools and hospitals. An automatic disinfection dispenser costs nearly 800,000 VND (35 USD), just one-third of the price of a similar product on sale on the market. It can be applied in every locality with only about 10,000 VND.
Along with these innovations, the province has increased the application of information technology in pandemic prevention and control such as updating COVID-19 vaccination data and health declaration for vehicles at the checkpoints.
From September last year, Yen Bai has promoted communication work to encourage people to install the PC-Covid app. Most business establishments, units and agencies have put up QR codes at the entrance for employees and customers to make health declarations. The PC-Covid app can provide a combination of information on health declaration, domestic movement declaration, close contact detection and real-time infection risk map. It can be used with a fast-tracking system to trace cases related to new infections in a few minutes.
The province has also directed all health facilities and mobile sample collecting points in the locality to gather information and return test results on PC-Covid software to ensure its conformity from December 16 last year.
Once people install the PC-Covid app, it will be faster to make the medical declaration and see the test results on the app.
In compliance with the implementation of the policy on "Safe and flexible adaptation to and effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic", the provincial Department of Health has piloted a care and monitoring system for COVID-19 patients with mild or no symptoms who take self-treatment at home.
The application of science and technology in the COVID-19 prevention and control not only reduces time and costs for people and medical units, but also minimises risk of infection in the community.
