As part of activities for the Independence Day 2/9, "Autumn Festival" in 2024 and the first-ever “Son Tra Festival”, Mu Cang Chai district will organize many unique and attractive activities to attract domestic and international tourists. This is the first time Mu Cang Chai district holds the “Son Tra Festival”.
The district will organize activities such as: Folk art performance competitions; ethnic sports and folk games competitions; weaving competitions featuring products from bamboo. "Flying over scenic spots" paragliding festival will take place at 8 am on September 1.
The opening ceremony of the 2024 “the golden season Festival” and the first-ever "Son Tra Festival" of Mu Cang Chai district will be held at 8 pm on September 6, with an arts performance program themed "The Legend of Son Tra"; 6 street dance troupes will perform dances reflecting the Mong and Thai ethnic cultures of Mu Cang Chai district, and vehicles carrying mockups and products made from Son Tra fruit (Tao meo); announcement of decisions by the Copyright Office, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognizing the following festivals: “the golden season Festival”, "Flying over scenic spots" Paragliding Festival, "Banh day grinding festival"; and Decision recognizing a Tree as National Heritage of Vietnam.
Along with the festival activities, Mu Cang Chai district will also organize a "Son Tra Flavor" cuisine competition; beeswax carving competitions; organize booths to introduce Son Tra fruit and processed products from Son Tra fruit of other localities, combined with displays of beautifully decorated exhibition spaces. At the same time, it will organize the "MU CANG CHAI ULTRA TRAIL" Marathon in 2024, the Mong ethnic groups' new rice celebration; organize unique artistic and cultural activities every Saturday evening; experiential tourism tours...
These activities aim to continue honoring the values of national intangible cultural heritage sites and introduce potentials and strengths of Sontra fruit (cat fruit), local specialties. It also increases community awareness and responsibility in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values. It also introduces, promoté potentials, strengths and tourism resources of Mu Cang Chai to attract society's joint efforts in tourism development, toward the goal of making Mu Cang Chai district a tourism district, a destination of “Identity, safety, friendliness”.
