Thousands of people flocked to Lam Thuong commune in Yen Bai province in the past two days to attend the "Pay Tai" Festival 2024.
"Pay Tai” means "returning to the wife's parents' house". This is the custom of a married daughter and her husband visiting her parents’ house to offer incense to her ancestors and show the bridegroom’s gratitude and filial piety to his wife’s family.
This year's festival featured fun games and contests, including traditional scarf wearing, weaving fish baskets, a duck beauty contest, goat fighting, pounding sticky rice cakes, casting nets to catch fish, and crossing bamboo bridges to pick flowers.
Other activities included "dating" at a bonfire, group performances, rowing on Phai Luong stream, and a display of local products.
Pay Tai Festival becomes annual event and the pride of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups in Lam Thuong commune in particular and Luc Yen district, Yen Bai province in general.
Comes to Lam Thuong, visitors will enjoy and participate in folk games and activities taking place during the festival.
