YBP - On the evening of January 4, 2025, at the district stadium, the People's Committee of Van Yen District held a solemn ceremony to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the district's establishment (December 16, 1964 - December 16, 2024), celebrate Van Yen's achievement of new rural standards for 2024, and receive the Second Class Labor Medal.
Sixty years ago, on December 16, 1964, Van Yen District was officially established amid numerous challenges as the country was still grappling with the difficulties of war and reconstruction.
Throughout its historical stages, from being a locality severely affected by war with challenging economic conditions and undergoing several administrative adjustments, the Party Committee, government, armed forces, and the ethnic communities of Văn Yên District have consistently upheld the spirit of solidarity. They have shown bravery and resilience in the revolutionary struggle, while being diligent and innovative in labor and production.
These efforts have led to significant achievements across various fields, gradually positioning Văn Yên as a dynamic development center in the Northwest region of the province, thereby enhancing the glorious traditions of the nation and the heroic homeland of Van Yen.
In recent years, Van Yen district has consistently been one of the leading localities in the province in various movements and patriotic emulation campaigns, successfully meeting and exceeding the assigned goals and tasks. The district has maintained a high economic growth rate, with the economic and labor structures shifting positively.
Agriculture has developed significantly, particularly with large-scale concentrated commodity production areas, notably in cinnamon cultivation, covering nearly 60,000 hectares, which has established Văn Yên as the largest cinnamon hub in the country, providing high income for the residents. The socio-economic infrastructure in the district has been increasingly completed and synchronized, shining in rural transportation development (with 91% of rural roads being solidified), resulting in a more beautiful and clean urban and rural landscape.
Notably, with determination and exceptional efforts, Văn Yên achieved the status of a new rural district a year ahead of the targets set by the Provincial Party Congress and the District Party Congress, making it the only locality in the midland and northern mountainous region to be recognized in 2024.
With its outstanding achievements over 60 years, the Party Committee, government, and the ethnic communities of Văn Yên District have been honored by the Party and the State with numerous prestigious awards, including the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Hero of Labor, Third Class Independence Medal, Second Class Labor Medal, and many other distinctions.
During the ceremony, Mr. Tran Huy Tuan, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, praised and congratulated the significant achievements that the Party Committee, government, armed forces, and the ethnic communities of Van Yen district have attained over the past 60 years.
Mr. Tran Huy Tuan urged Van Yen district to make strong and decisive breakthroughs to successfully implement the resolution of the 16th District Party Congress for the 2020 - 2025 term. He emphasized the need to focus on achieving the highest possible political goals and tasks for 2025 in accordance with Action Program No.246 of the Provincial Party Committee, which includes five key task groups. He highlighted that 2025 should be both a year of consolidation and a year of breakthroughs to accelerate progress, ensuring the successful completion of the resolutions set forth by the 16th District Party Congress. This will lay a crucial foundation for entering the new term with aspirations and determination to further develop Van Yen District.
