YBP - On February 15, Tram Tau district joyfully held the Gau Tao Festival of 2025.
The Gau Tao Festival is one of the unique cultural and spiritual expressions of the Mong ethnic group. It is a significant celebration that reflects the long-standing cultural traditions of the Mong people, who have maintained and preserved this festival over the years. The festival typically takes place at the end of the old year and the beginning of the new year, symbolizing the concepts of fertility and growth.

The opening of the festival is a ritual offering conducted according to Mong ethnic customs, performed by artisan Giàng A Su. The content of the offering included gratitude to the mountain gods, earth gods, sky gods, and river gods for granting the people of Tram Tau District a year filled with blessings and abundant harvests. It also included prayers for divine protection and continued blessings for the ethnic groups in Tram Tau for a new year filled with good fortune.
This festival is also an occasion for community members to gather, celebrate, and prepare for a new year and a new farming season.
After the solemn rituals were conducted according to Mong ethnic customs, the festival featured vibrant cultural performances and traditional sports, which attracted a large number of participants from the ten highland communes in the district.
