YBP - On May 30, the People's Committee of Yen Bai Province held a working session with a delegation from Hai Phong City led by Mr. Le Trung Kien - Member of the Standing Committee of the Hai Phong City Party Committee and Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in vocational training, job placement, and labor supply from Yen Bai to industrial parks and economic zones in Hai Phong.

Participating in the meeting were Ms. Vu Thi Hien Hanh - Vice Chairwoman of the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee, along with leaders of relevant departments and vocational institutions.
In recent years, vocational schools in Yen Bai have actively partnered with major Hai Phong enterprises such as LG Electronics, LG Display, Heesung, and Yazaki. These partnerships have enabled over 390 students and 31 teachers to gain hands-on experience through internships, resulting in 21 student hires and sponsored training programs like “LGE Talent.”
Yen Bai has also connected over 1,200 workers with jobs in Hai Phong, organized 96 job fairs and career guidance events for more than 10,700 participants, and provided direct counseling to over 19,500 people.

Vice Chairwoman Vu Thi Hien Hanh emphasized Yen Bai’s young and abundant labor force and its continued investment in education and high-quality human resource development. While appreciating the partnership with Hai Phong, she noted challenges such as the mismatch between enterprise requirements and the current training offerings, and the untapped potential in labor supply.

Mr. Le Trung Kien acknowledged Hai Phong’s growing labor shortage, especially in skilled sectors. In response, the city is boosting vocational training, offering incentives for investment and worker housing, and deepening ties between businesses and training providers. He called for stronger coordination between the two provinces in recruitment, labor orientation, and vocational education. Hai Phong also plans to host a networking event between its enterprises and Yen Bai’s vocational schools.
On English education, Mr. Kien praised the “school-to-school” collaboration model and encouraged mechanisms to incentivize teacher participation, expressing confidence that this model could become a national example of effective inter-provincial cooperation.
The session concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, the Hai Phong Departments of Home Affairs and Education & Training, and their counterparts in Yen Bai Province to formalize cooperation in training, employment, and labor supply.
