YBP - Annually, there are about 20 - 22 festivals taking place in Yen Bai province. Of which 4 annual festivals are held at the cultural monuments and the monuments of tourist attractions and about 18 festivals are held every two or three years.

In 2016, there were 19 festival points taking place in Yen Bai province. Of which 4 festivals were held at the national relics such as Dong Cuong temple festival in Van Yen district; Ancient Xoe of Thai people in Muong Lo; Cap Sac festival of the red Dao; Mu Cang Chai terraced fields festivall; 15 festivals were annually held bearing the traditional cultural values of each ethnic group, each locality in every commune and village such as Long Tong Festival of the Tay, Thai, Nung; Cau Mua festival of the Kho Mu; Han Khuong festival of the Thai; Gau Tao festival of the Mong ...
Festivals were held at the historical cultural relics such as: Dai Cai temple festival in Tan Linh commune in Luc Yen district; Thac Ba temple festival in Thac Ba town in Yen Binh district; Hoa Cuong temple festival in Hoa Cuong commune in Tran Yen district…
Through 19 checking, authorities said localities were basically done according to the instructions of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; regulations of the province and the provisions of the law.
Cultural activities and sports were organized excitingly, healthy and mainly taken place during one day before and during the festival. For example: playing soccer, playing volleyball, boat racing, pushing sticks….
Cultural activities and sports at the festival had contributed to preserve and promote the cultural values and identities of the local peoples. Festival rituals were traditionally organized and guaranteed in accordance with the law.
Due to the close guidance from the provincial to the local, the festive season 2016 in Yen Bai province had been many positive changes; local authorities had planned to direct consolidation of the festival organization and management board, repaire roads, campus to serve the festivals; guarante security in the festival; pay attention to environmental sanitation, food safety, and fire control at festivals and temples…
To overcome the current problems in organizing festival, in 2017, the industry of culture, sports and tourism of Yen Bai province will strengthen propaganda and popularization of the law to the authorities, the people on the implementation of lifestyle civilization in wedding, funerals and festivals; Coordinate with local authorities to direct the festival management board at all levels to promote propaganda the traditional cultural beauty of ethnic groups on the values of the historical, cultural relics of the festivals, and raise awareness of the people participating in the festivals. On the other hand, strengthening the inspection and supervision of the management and organization of the festival in order to deal with the faults in orgarnizing festivals at the grassroots timely.
